Hula Halau O'Leilani

Sharing A Touch of Aloha with Tulsa and the surrounding cities

Kumu's Corner

Kumu Hula Leilani Sheldon and husband Kawika Sheldon.

Kumu Leilani studied under four kumus in Hawaii and has studied hula for 40 years from her earliest haumana days to today. While in Hawaii, she danced professionally for 10 years before becoming a kumu and moving to Tulsa, where she has taught for over twenty years.

With each haumana (hula student), she sees their potential and helps them to grow in hula, character, and integrity because “hula is the language of the heart, the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people.”
